Walter Lee Beard 84, died on Tuesday morning in the Monticello Nursing Home, Mount Carmel, Ill., after a period of five years illness.


He was born in Bristow on Nov. 25, 1890 and had resided in Princeton for the past 53 years.  Beard was a retired Southern Railroad employee.  He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW, both of Princeton.  Beard was a veteran of World War I.


Survivors include on daughter, Mrs. George Coomer and one son, Robert L. Beard, both of Princeton; three stepsons, Arthur Montgomery of Evansville, Stancil Montgomery of Owensville and Kenneth Montgomery of Francisco; eight grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.


The Rev. Don Grollimund will conduct the 10 a.m. services on Thursday at Colvin Chapel.  Burial will be in Heights (sic) Chapel Cemetery.


Friends may call after 3:30 on Wednesday at the funeral home.
