Mrs. Clara B. Adkins Durell, 78, widow of John M. Durell who died in May 1949, succumbed to a long illness at 9 o'clock this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter Lee Utley, at Bufkin.


She was a native of White county, Ill., a daughter of Charles Adkins and Amanda Douthitt Adkins, but had resided in Posey county since she was 10 years old.


Death followed illness of several years that had made her bedfast for the last five weeks.


The body is at the Short-Niehaus Funeral Home and will remain there through the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Short-Niehaus chapel.  Burial will be in Bellefontaine cemetery.  The officiating minister will be Rev. C. E. Terrell, pastor of Mt. Pleasant General Baptist Church at Bufkin, of which the deceased was a member.


Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Utley and Miss Nancy Durell, R. R. 3 Mt. Vernon; two sons, William Kenneth Durell, R. R. 3 Mt. Vernon, and Charles S. Durell, Plainfield, Ind., and five grandchildren.
