MOUNT VERNON - Edward J. Nurrenbern, age 79, died at 9:58 p.m. Friday, December 8th, 2006, at Deaconess Hospital.

He was born October 19, 1927, in Vanderburgh County, Ind., on the West Side of Evansville. Ed began his life's passion, working on the family's farm. He continued a successful career as a farmer in Posey County until after he retired in 1992. He was a 50-year member of Posey County Farm Bureau and a past member of St. Agnes and St. Matthews churches and a former member of the Elks.

Throughout his life, he enjoyed listening to country music, picking a guitar, playing billiards and cards, socializing with family and friends, and was well-known for his love for dancing. An amateur inventor, he amazed many with his creativity and ingenuity "tinkering" in his shop.

As a loving father and grandparent, he enjoyed his family and could never pass up an opportunity to outwit the grandkids in a game of dominoes or cards. Ed was good company and enjoyed recent excursions with his sisters, family and longtime friends as they celebrated their golden years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Helen Corinne (Beuligmann) Nurrenbern on
September 9, 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Julia (Rollett) Nurrenbern; a daughter, Donna Radtke; 2 brothers, Walter Nurrenbern and Elmer Nurrenbern; and a sister, Helen Hisch.
