Mrs. Herbert W. Parker, wife of a retired telegrapher and a member of a prominent, early Posey county family, died Monday (30 Jan 1956) in Los Angeles, Calif., relatives in Mt. Vernon have been advised.  The Parkers resided at 2709 fifth avenue, Los Angeles.


Mrs. Parker was the former Ida Jones, a daughter of Thomas Jones and Edith Curtis Jones of Posey county.  She left Mt. Vernon many years ago and resided a long period of time in Denver, Colo., prior to living in Los Angeles.


Several nieces and nephews survive, in addition to the husband, including Mrs. Grace Mann, Mrs. George E. Black, Mrs Carrie Black, and Miss Della Thomas, Mt. Vernon.


Funeral services were held in Los Angeles today.  Following cremation of the body, the ashes will be brought to Weisinger Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon for a memorial service and burial in Bellefontaine cemetery.  The date of memorial and burial rites here has not been determined.
