a pamphlet named the "Stephens/Carpenter
Families"..It is
A1 #6072...when I visited in the spring of '93, it w as off
the shelf for
cataloguing. This was finally located
in the spring o f '95.
It provided
contacts--Frances Stoner and Lyle Sharp--to the Carpenter
line of Ohio/and
earlier.
Francis Stephen,
apparently the son of Francis, Sr., became the guardian for Francis Sr.'s
youngest children in 1856. The minor children are listed as James, Barabara,
John, and Andrew Stephen.

(Internet) from _____________ shows that a
Francis Stephens (some
listings shown as Stephenson) married a
Margaret Pryor. The
Pryor family also came from Cumberland through
Greene, through
Washington Counties of Pa. to Ohio. The Pryor famil y was
in Belmont and Monroe
Counties of Ohio. The marriage between Francis
and Margaret took
place in 1808. She died after 1828. This information
was provided in Feb.
of 1995. Work continues to see if there is a
connection.

of Randolph County, Indiana. He is listed as a farmer. The census was taken on
October 20th, 1850.

John Miller deceased chooses Samuel Stover t o be
his guardian. Samuel
was also appointed the guardian of John, Henry , and
Isaach Miller minor
heirs of John Miller dec. Henry Miller was his
security. March 1823.

And now comes this day
David Miller a minor orphan of John Miller deceased late of said county and
moved the court for leave to choose guardian and it appearing evident the court
now hear that the said David is over fourteen years of age and within the age
of twenty-one years and is therefore permitted to choose a guardian and makes
choice of Samuel Stover for his guardian and the said Samuel Stover is
accordingly appointed by the court now here as guardian to the said David
Miller whereupon the said Samuel Stover comes into open court and enters into
bond with Henry Miller his security for his good and faithful performance as
guardian as aforesaid, and the said security is approved by the said court.
Information surfacing
in May of 2002 tells that David Miller and Elizabeth Stephen Miller made it to
Oregon. David was said to have died in 1870 with a rock for a stone. The stone
was moved and lost.
