The Blocher Train Derailment

On January 23, 1972, Anthony Campbell of Scottsburg was killed when the car he was driving left State Road 56 as it approached a railroad overpass and sailed about 50 feet through the air, landing on the tracks below. At the time police reported that the car may have been traveling at a high rate of speed when it veered off the road. The impact of the automobile damaged the track, causing the derailment which followed.

My thanks to Cory Walker for finding the newspaper account and the date of the accident.
