Thomas Edwin Smith-

T. Edwin “Smitty” Smith, age 86, a lifelong resident of Elwood, died April 17, 2010 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood following a brief illness. He was born August 24, 1923 in Elwood, Indiana. He was a Licensed Electrician and owner of Smith Electric in Elwood. He was well known for providing service to the Jim Dandy Restaurants in the area for 34 years. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserves. He married Doris M. Dean on January 11, 1940. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Elwood and the Quincy Masonic Lodge in Elwood. He was also formerly a member of the Elwood Elks Lodge. He enjoyed working, gardening, and dining out at several local restaurants.

He was preceded in death by: Parents - Joseph H. and Lura Lucille (Holliday) [Margaret Lucile Holaday] Smith; Wife - Doris M. Smith who died January 9, 2009; 2 Daughters - Janet Lee Aaron and Beverly Sue Smith; and Brother - Glendon Smith.

Funeral Services were conducted at 7:00 PM Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Bill Cornwell and Rev. David Freeland officiating. Quincy Masonic Lodge began the funeral service with a Masonic memorial at 7:00 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Burial took place in the Aroma Cemetery in Atlanta.
