I am trying to obtain information with respect to Michael O'NEIL, born about 1831, in Ireland, probably County Cork, who was married in Union County 03 Nov 1850, to Catherine BARRY, also from Ireland, and probably Co. Cork; Michael was naturalized in Union County in 1856. O'NEIL is sometimes O'NEAL Michael and Catherine had 12 children, many of whom were probably born in Union County -- Margaret, 1851-2, Stephen, 1852-3, Cathryn, 1854, John, 1855-6, and Mary Ann, 1857-8, were likely born in Union County. The next record I have of Michael is the 1870 census and he was in Carthage, Rush County then. My grandmother, Sarah O'Neil was born in Rushville, 24 July 1868. Michael and Catherine were Catholic; Michael is buried at the Calvary Cemetery in Rushville, having died 20 March 1909. It's possible that Michael's father's name was also Michael; it is also likely that Catherine Barry had a brother, Michael Barry, and that he was naturalized on the same date Michael O'Neil -- Union Circuit Court Fall Term, 1856 Any information and or suggestions on who to contact will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Bill Lyons lyons@gorge.net fax: 541 386-2464
