The Wells County Historical Society (referenced in this document as
wchs) compiled the original list
several years ago, when my findings disagree with theirs, I’ve tried to note
that as well as addendums such as maiden names.
The graveyard is laid out in two squares one to the north and the other
to the south. The last column on this
document attempts to give a row location for each grave. The western edge of the graveyard is fenced
and borders a farm field. That was my
starting point for each square. Just
like old city streets, the rows do not always run true. If you use my numbers
to find a grave, it should be nearby. A
few graves are listed that do not have a location. These were on the original list and I left them there, assuming
that a few decades can change things.
Overall, the graveyard is well cared for and the majority of stones
intact.
