He was a Republican. He served Captain John Spencer's Co. of the Ohio Spies in the War of 1812. He has a land grand given to him as a result of serving in the military. This is the land that the Mossburg Cemetery is presently located on. At the age of 22 Henry cold not speak English. At 22 he attended school and became a teacher. He moved to VA to marry Jane. Then he moved onto Clinton Co. Ohio. He was in Clinton CO. when the war of 1812 broke out and he went to serve. He fought under General Harrison for two yrs. 1819 he moved into Wayne Co., In until 1823. then onto Delaware Co.,In., onto Wells CO.In in 1837. He was the 2nd settler to settle within liberty twp, there was no county seat at the time. The closest town was Muncie, in Delaware County, Indiana. Daniel, Henry's son walked to Muncie for four days to buy the burial clothes for Henry. He used neigbor's lumber to make a wagon box to bury Henry in. The box was nailed together with 8 nails. His wife Jane kept a fire burning over his gravesite to keep the wolves from digging up his grave. She faithfully built the fire every evening. I have his military file.
