The main trail south was that later called The Indianapolis Road, going south through Zanesville, Markle, Warren, and then to Indianap;olis. The road was dirt with logs across low places and through swamps.

Ervin and Clella lived with her parents about eight months after marriage. Joyce, Dick and Jerry were all born in Uniondale (Robert Legge has lived there for the past 52 years (1998)). Mrs. Jim Jones (Marceline Baldwin), a victim in the Guyana holocaust in the fall of 1978 was also born in this house.

Ervin lived all of his adult life in and around Uniondale, IN. He was an auto mechanic, farmer, and school bus driver. He never drank alcohol. Ervin purchased a farm, NW of Uniondale (North of Banner City, IN) but lost the farm because his first crop was ruined by an unusually wet spring.

Ervin purchased 57.5 acres of land located just West of Norwell high school in December of 1944. In 1949 a Land Abstract noted that he had a mortgage in the amount of $25 per acre.

My wife is the daughter of Lawrence L. Fisher (4) 1.5.3.2, whose mother was Emma Motz (3) 1.5.3, and father was George A. Fisher. Incidentally, Emma Motz was named Sarah Emma Motz. Lawrence L. Fisher was born in Markle, IN January 16, 1899. He died in Canada on a fishing trip June 11, 1963, and is buried in Covenanter Cemetery in Bloomington IN. He married Elisabeth Craig in Martinsville, IN on August 17, 1920. Elisabeth was born in Bloomington, IN on June 26, 1895. Elisabeth was the daughter of John Craig and Margaret (Maggie) Curry. Elisabeth died December 25, 1954 in Bloomington, IN and is buried there in Covenanter Cemetery. Lawrence and Elisabeth had one daughter, Margaret Ann Fisher, born March 19, 1926. Margaret Ann Fisher married Jerome H. Schindel in Niles MI on December 20, 1945. Jerome was born in New York, NY on December 6, 1926. He is the son of Lester J. Schindel and Frances A. Cohen. Margaret Ann and Jerome Schindel live near Albany, IN where he is retired after practicing dentistry for 40 years. They have two children, William Douglas Schindel, born January 30, 1947, and Patricia Ann Schindel, born December 22, 1950. Both were born in Indianapolis, IN. William D. Schindel was married to Diane McDonald in New York on January 15, 1972. They live in Terre Haute, IN, and have one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Schindel, born August 20, 1975. Patricia Ann Schindel married Chris Youngblood in Albany, IN, September 6, 1969. They have 2 sons, Craig Youngblood, born January 10, 1975, and Matthew Julius Youngblood, born June 1, 1978. Patricia Ann divorced Chris Youngblood in 1980, and married Larry Lennis in Albany, IN on June 12, 1982.
