Rachel Merrill will speak on the Louis & Clark expedition. This is the 200th anniversary of their expedition. Rachael is a descendent of one of the explorers.

Program: Steve Lalioff will discuss his work on log cabin restoration. He has worked on the Lewis and Clark Fort in Illinois and will talk about various other projects.

He will explain required steps to us to reconstruct the log cabin the Historical Society rescued from the Carey-Otis house.

This month’s program will feature Mr. Gary Southerland who has been with the Fire Department for many years. He will present the history of the Westfield Fire Department based on the extensive research he has done.

Gary has lived in and around Westfield all of his life. He and his wife Tamara have three children. Gary is an upstanding citizen and has served our community very well for many years.

Please join us on Thursday the 23rd at 7:00pm in the Town Hall for this program, which is sure to be very interesting and informative!

Underground Railroad Run/Walk and Historic Westfield Event -

The Westfield Chamber is organizing another popular historic Westfield event. This event brought over 300 people to Historic Downtown Westfield in 2004. The Historical Society is cooperating with the Chamber and other local organizations and businesses to make this year’s event an even bigger success. Look forward to historic lectures about the Underground Railroad in Westfield/Hamilton County. Learn about the Quaker and Union Bible College history with demonstrations and speeches for the whole family. Volunteers dressed in era costumes are needed to distribute flyers and to give this event a historic flair.

Mr. Stuart Davis and Rev. Jon Daubenspeck will present for your enjoyment and information a program on our roots in music and the instruments that played a very important roll in the early history of this county in war, peace, and worship around the time Hamilton County and Westfield was settled. You will see how the various songs and instruments brought many ethnic immigrants together to form this great nation. This will be a program you won’t want to miss!

Jim Beery - Stories and History of Eagletown

Jim Beery will speak about Eagletown and the history of this town just west of Westfield. Its rich Underground Railroad History and Midland Railroad stories. Jim Berry writes stories for the Vincennces Newspaper.
