Camogie
Ballinabranna had a Camogie team around the late 1940's
with Frank Gregan and committee in charge.
Players involved at that time were Mary Brien, Mrs.Annie
Redmond, Mary Howard, Mrs.Gahan (Old Leighlin), Cis
Cleere (Graigueculen) and Nan Ward (Graiguecullen).
Whenever a sports was held in Tomard a camogie match was
also on the programme.
When Christy Kelly was Secretary of the Football Club,
he was also Chairman of the Camogie Club.
Sean Fitzgerald trained the camogie team in the field
beside Christy's house and the football training also
took place here in the field known as the "24 acres".
The majority of the camogie players came from
Raheendoran and the team also had a uniform.

At a Ball in George Redmonds (house above Kiln) one
time, organised by the Camogie Club, a lot of money was
collected. The admission charge was 2/6. The money
disappeared and so did a cake that was to be raffled.
Reliable sources inform me that the cake was eaten up in
Bilboa. The musicians playing were Mick Bolger, Paddy
Bolger, and Mick Kavanagh.
