Sworn Statement of Philip Quinlan, Lance Corporal 90th Regt.

On 25th January 1845 William Ryan enlisted with me in Carlow for the 90th Regt. of Light Infantry stating at the time he William Ryan was a single Man on which I gave said William Ryan One Shilling.

I have been informed and believe the said William Ryan is a married Man / a woman stating him to be her Husband having informed me she was his wife / and have been informed and believe that the said William Ryan enlisted with Sergeant Joseph Burr at Carlow some weeks since for the 74th Regt. and in consequence of being married he was not attested.
