Mrs. James O'Malley

Mrs. James O'Malley passed peacefully to rest Saturday night at 10:40 after an illness of only a few days, although she had been a constant sufferer with asthma for about 20 years. Eliza Carr was born in County Carlow, Ireland, September 8, 1845, and came to America with her parents when 6 years old. They settled in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. From there, they moved to Henry, Illinois, where she was united in marriage to James O'Malley on April 2, 1864. They lived in Henry one year, then moved to Ottawa, Illinois, where they lived two years. In the spring of 1868 they moved to this city, since which time this has been her home. Mrs. O'Malley was the mother of ten children, Grace dying in infancy, Elizabeth J. dying December 1, 1899, at the age of 25 years, Anna C., October 4, 1900. The remaining children are: W. J. and J. B. of Pontiac, Edward J., Mary, Matthew, Gertrude and Francis P. at home. Mrs. O'Malley was a woman of kindly and generous heart and highly esteemed by those who knew her. On account of her poor health it was very seldom she left her home. Her death will be greatly mourned by the bereaved husband, children and friends... The funeral was held from St. John's Catholic church on Tuesday morning at 10:00, Rev. Fr. Sheedy officiating.
