CARROLL / STANTON / CREAY - I have reason to believe
my great, great grandfather, Charles Carroll, born in Ireland about 1826, hailed
from Galway. He came from a large family. Patrick Carroll and Nora Stanton were
his parents. Patrick's parents were John
Carroll and Betty Gibson. Charles came to America sometime before 1848, along
with his brother Martin. Martin was two years younger than Charles and the baby
of the family. Other siblings were James, John,
William, Patrick, and Mary. I do not know whether they came to America or not.
Charles and his brother married sisters. Charles the oldest - Mary Creay, and
Martin, the younger, Elizabeth Creary. Thus made their children double cousins.
I do not know where in Galway they hailed from
but I am hoping someone will recognize the family names of Carroll and Creary.
Martin and Elizabeth married in
America
but I am not so sure about Charles and Elizabeth. Any help would be so greatly
appreciated. Contact Loretta

MARTIN / KANE / KENEALY - KINEALY - CONNEELY -
My great grandfather, Luke MARTIN, came from Ahgloragh,
County
Galway. He married Mary
KANE and they had four children. I do not know when he was born, when he
married and when he died (although it appears he was alive when his son,
Patrick, was married in 1896, when he was described as "farmer"). Nor do I know
if he had any siblings. The Griffiths' 1855 Valuation
of Tenements has a Luke Martin as tenant/occupier at Castlefarm, just north west of Dunmore. I still have to establish whether or not this is
my great grandfather. The eldest three of Luke and Mary's children all went to
the USA and settled
in St Louis, Missouri, where they married, raised families
and died. John MARTIN married Mary
FOY and they had two boys. He died in 1897. Thomas MARTIN went to the
USA
in 1885 and married Mary (family name unknown), also an Irish emigrant. They
married in 1889 and had seven children, only five of whom were still alive in
1910. Delia MARTIN went to the USA in 1882 and married Walter CADY
who had emigrated from
Ireland
in 1881. They had six children. She died in St Louis in 1938. The youngest son, Patrick
MARTIN, born in 1873, came to England where,
in 1896, he married Bridget CONNELLY (as she was named on her marriage
certificate). They had five children, all born in England where
Patrick died in 1916. Bridget's parents, my great grandparents, were Thomas
KENEALY and Margaret (family name unknown) who were both born in Ireland, as were
their four children. Between 1930 and 1935 Bridget CONNELLY, by this time a
widow, lived in Boston,
Massachusetts,
USA, where she had gone with three of her
children. Her US immigration
ID card states that she was born on 10 March 1871 in Dunmore,
County Galway, hence my interest in the Griffiths' Valuation
information. However, I have a note written by my mother (now deceased) in
which she says that the KENEALYS, too, came from Ahgloragh, County
Galway. This I have still to confirm. Any
information on either set of my great grandparents would be most welcome. Thank
you. Contact John

GREEN / WHITE - I have very little information
about my GREEN ancestors but would like to find out more. My grandfather Frank
Green of Sheffield, England was orphaned in 1900 when his parents Christopher
and Louisa committed suicide. I know Christopher's parents were John and Ann
Green. Ann was from Yorkshire but John came from Galway, Ireland. I know he was
living in Sheffield, England in 1861 as that is when he and Ann White married.
His father was Thomas Green. I suspect that there was a brother named Henry as
he was a witness at the marriage of Christopher Green to Louisa Denton. John
Green gives a different birth date on his marriage cert., 1881 census and 1891
census, so I'm not sure if he was born in 1821, 1823 or 1833. The names Francis,
Lily, Thomas, Vincent, Arthur and Mary have repeated throughout all branches of
the family. I know my grandfather was still in contact with relatives from
Ireland into the 1930's and 1940's as my mom and aunt remember a parcel coming
each Christmas with gifts from Ireland and that their father received Irish
sweepstake tickets every year from a relative in Ireland. Unfortunately they
don't know the name of this relative. Any help would be appreciated.

GUINAN - Family Ancestors - I am seeking any
information relative to the family of my G-Grandfather John GUINAN born
circa.1832. Information I have from the Public Records Office quotes from his
Military Records that he joined the 16th Regiment of Foot at Newcastle upon Tyne
in 1855 at the age of 23, born at Eyrecourt, Galway. He married in Hythe, Kent
in 1860 while still in the Army stationed at Aldershot and his Marriage
Certificate states that his Father's name was Bernard GUINAN a Farmer. During a
visit to Ireland from Australia, back in 1984, I was directed to a farmhouse a
few miles out of Eyrecourt at Killimore, which was said to have been formerly
owned by a Bernard Guinan who had split his property between two sons Bernard
and Thomas. I am guessing that this Bernard (Snr) is either my GG-Grandfather or
perhaps more likely a brother of my G-Grandfather. Any related or family
information verification would be very much appreciated. Please contact

DOYLE - My g-g-grandmother ROSE DOYLE was born in
Galway according to her Louisiana death certificate. Rose died in New Orleans,
La., on 1 Feb 1899. She married Michael MILLER on 22 Mar 1854 in New Orleans. In
all probability she came to the States in 1852 or 1853 between the ages of
16-18. Using the death certificate information she would have been born in
Galway most likely in 1835 or 1836. I have been able to find information on a
Andrew DOYLE who married a Mary MASON on 26 Mar 1835 in Ahascragh, Galway;
however I do not have any other information and do not know if they are in fact
Rose's parents. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to determine
where she was actually born and then visit Ireland. With gratitude,
Jay
Caveney - My Great Grandfather Edward Caveney was
born 1835 in Co.Galway. His brothers/sisters were all born in Ballykilcline,
Co.Roscommon. His parents, Luke & Mary Caveney along with the entire family were
evicted from Ballykilcline in 1848 and sailed on the "Progress" ship to
Liverpool. From there, I have only been able to trace the line of Edward in
England from 1860. At this time he was in Ashby-de-la-Zouche, Leicestershire but
ended his days in Mobberley, Cheshire. His family were:- Mary (1829), Patrick
(1831), Thomas (1833), Luke (1838), Anne (1841) & Catherine (1847). Is there
anyway of tracing Edward's Birth Record in Galway?

immigrated? to Australia in the 1800's around 1840 to 1853. He may have been a

was writing the records at the time as William was illiterate. I would
appreciate any help I can get on any relatives at all. William was my great,
great, grandfather and he was born in Galway. Please Contact
