Guidelines:

  1. Names

All surnames should be in caps, but not given names.
    ie Hugh O'CONNOR

Woman's names should  be given as their maiden names when known. ie Johanna FITZGERALD m. Hugh O'CONNOR
(Not: Johanna Fitzgerald O'Connor)At the top of your family history I suggest a list all the Kerry surnames (spouses) found in your data so researchers can know right away what names of interest are in your material. I will provide links to your family history information for ONE surname and it must be from Kerry.

  2. Dates

Dates should be written as Day, Month, Year, with the month spelled out as to avoid confusion with number dates. (Note:Europeans switch month and day from what those of us in the U.S. do!)

    Correct: 11 Dec 1999
    Wrong: 12-11-1999
    Wrong: 11/12/99

Please include all four numbers in the year. Writing '99 isn't good enough . The reader is left wondering; 1999? 1899? 1799?

  3. Places

    Townland/Town, Parish, County, Country
Start with the smallest division to the largest.

  4. Standard abbreviations

    m marriage
    b birth
    d death
emigrated to    (ie Kerry > Canada)

  5. There MUST be a Kerry connection.
  6. You MUST provide an email address for interested researchers to contact you.
  7. Be brief and concise, follow the format and guidelines!
A Word .doc attached to an email is prefered. Otherwise the data within an email is fine.
  8. The nature of a Family Group Record is:
    one family/one surname
Therefore, your info will be listed under the surname of the "husband" area of our format. Right now I am accepting ONE Family Group Record from each person.

Thank you for your contribution!
