I am researching my LEACOCK and STONE ancestry in Co Kilkenny. I have good information from the records of St Mary's Parish Church in Castlecomer on both families but am now seeking extend the information to pre 1800. I know that Leacock's were in the area of Gurteen, Castlecomer, prior to this date but have not yest established any firm links to known individuals.
In Tom Lyng's book "Castlecomer Connections" he shows a picture of a building that once housed the "Ministry for Yorkshire Settlements" Can anyone offer advice on a reference source for further information on this subject. Both of my family surnames are also prevalent in Yorkshire, formerly a strong coal mining area, and I wonder if this could be the reason my ancestors came to Kilkenny to work in the mines.
