Dublin Castle, Dublin, Ireland: Center of English Rule for 700 years and Part of the Irish Free State After 1922

Dublin Castle in downtown Dublin (pictured below) was the focal point of English rule for 700 years until power was relinquished by the formation of the Irish Free State in 1922. All that remains of the original 13th century Normal Fortress is a Record Tower. State apartments used for government ceremonies such as the Inauguration of Irish President are here as well.
