TIRERAGH II

BARONY OF TIRERAGH - PARISHES AND TOWNLANDS

The following is a list of parishes and townlands in the Barony of Tireragh, County Sligo, much as they exist today. Some spellings may have changed since the Ordnance Survey of 1851, but the survey tended to firm up the names, and later changes would be slight compared to spelling changes before the survey. For example, the present day Cooga in Easky parish, is listed in the 1833 Tithe Applotment survey as Quique, and in the 1840s it was known as Quaqua. At the time of the 1851 survey, Kilmoremoy parish also was part of Tireragh, but later in the century it was transferred from Co. Sligo to Co. Mayo, as were some townlands in Castleconor.
