Townlands from the table in Wood-Martin, History of Sligo, 1888 with Tithe Applotments townlands in italics 1 Ardcumber, . Ardconmer hill of the confluence.
2 Ardlee, hill of the calves.
3 Bricklieve, Bricklief speckled mountain.
4 Carrowcashel, Carrowcastle quarter of the stone forts.
5 Coolbock, Coolback back of the buck-goats.
6 Coolboy, Coolboy yellow back.
7 Coolskeagh, . Coolsreagh back of the briars or brambles.
8 Cooperhill, or Gobbadagh, Cooperhill peaked, beaked, or pointed.
9 Cuiltylough, Cullylough woods of the toughs.
10 Drumcolumb, Drumcollem ridge of Columb.
11 Knockaun, . Knockawn a hillock.
12 Knoakbreenagher, . Knockbrenagher hill of the fairy palace.
13 Knockrawer, Knockbrower thick hill.
14 Lecarrow, half quarter.
15 Lisconny, Lascony fort of the fire wood.
16 Rusheen, Rusheen a small point or promontory.
17 Treanmacmurtagh, Macblurtough's third.
18 Turnalaydan, round hill of the burdocks.

Notes. 1. The first names have been spelled out, but ordinarily were abbreviated: Patt. for Patrick, etc.
2. Some townland names do not appear in the Ordnance Survey; these have a (?) in the first column. On the other hand, some names in the Ordnance survey do not appear in the Tithe Applotment. We have appended the list of townlands, and their meaning based on the Irish name, from Wood-Martin Vol. 3, and, in italics, the name as it appears in the Tithe Applotment.
3. The Tithe Applotment names were probably supplied by the land owner from his records. The names are hand-written, and thus subject to many potential errors in transcription, especially my inability to read 1824 Irish hand-writing from a journal.
4. The numbers with each name appear to be in pencil, and probably applied by the Irish Land Commission. The Applotment book also contains the area and value of each holding, and these are available on the film.
