William Ware col 1 page 17 THE SOUTHLAND Feb 1903
This story is about the history of Henderson Co. TX.
" Henderson County was originally taken directly from the old
municipality, and included Henderson, Rockwall, Kaufman, Van Zandt, Wood
and Rains and a part of Hunt (Act April 27, 1846, P.D., Art. 342) The
Commissioners were William WARE, William CARLISLE, Alfred MOORE, Thacker
VIVIAN, sr and James HOOKER."
OLD SETTLERS EDITION ATHENS REVIEW Aug 2, 1901
It says almost the same as SOUTHLAND
William WARE col 1 page 1
"The county of Henderson was cut originall direct from the
municipality of Nacogdoches and included the present counties of
Henderson, Rockwall, Kaufman, Van Zandt, Wood and Rains, and appears to
have included the southern part of Hunt county (Act April 27, 1846, P.D.
Art. 342) When the legislature laid it out at that time it appointed
Wm. WARE, David CARLISLE, Alfred MOORE, Thacker VIVIAN, SR., and James
HOOKER commissioners to select a temporary site, (Acts First
Legislature, page 141), Old Buffalo on Trinity river, where ACKERS Ferry
now is was selected as the county site. (The SL has a diffrent name
for CARLISLE, they both have about Buffalo on the end)
