M. Ruth Harbaugh Chapin, 89, died Nov. 25, 2005, at her home, Medicine Lodge.She was born March 25, 1916, in Gerlane, the daughter of U.B. and Mary (Page) Harbaugh. She attended Cottey College for four years. A lifetime Medicine Lodge resident, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to United Methodist Church, P.E.O., the Bridge Club and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, all at Medicine Lodge.
On Oct. 3, 1936, she married W. Luke Chapin at Medicine Lodge. He died Oct. 20, 1990.
Survivors include: two sons, Bill and his wife, Veneta, Hutchinson, and Dwight, Wichita; a daughter-in-law, Paula Chapin, Haysville; two half-brothers, Albert Harbaugh, Kiowa, and Jake Harbaugh, Sharon; two half-sisters, Betty Garten, Medicine Lodge, and Mollie Watts, Hardtner; four grandchildren, Wes Chapin, Haysville, Stephen Chapin, Hutchinson, Kelli Foster, Wichita, and Stephanie Boone, Great Bend; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a half-brother, Jim Harbaugh; and a sister, Faye Gilmore.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge, with Pastor Frank DeFisher presiding. Friends may sign the register from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Larrison Funeral Home, Medicine Lodge.
Memorials may be sent to the Medicine Lodge Swimming Pool Fund, in care of the funeral home.
