Pvt. Homer Coffman

Soldier Dies In Africa

Another World War II shock struck the Medicine Lodge community last Wednesday when Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Coffman received word from the war department that their son, Homer, had died in Africa while serving with the armed forces of the United States.

Pvt. Coffman's death was the result of acute appendicitis, the information from the war department revealed. Following an operation, peritonitis set in and the young man died soon afterward.

Pvt. Coffman was raised in Medicine Lodge and attended public schools here.

The young man was inducted into the army from Barber county in June of 1942. He was about 23 years old.
