Samuel Silvester Lincoln Davis was the last of eight children born to Samuel and Barbara Davis and all preceded him in death. He was born in Neosho County, Kansas, November 29, 1866 and died at his home in Medicine Lodge, Kansas, January 11, 1937 at the age of 70 years, one month and 13 days.

He was united in marriage to Miss Annie May Strain, April 2, 1895 at Cleo, Oklahoma. They had a happy married life and were very devoted one to the other.

Three daughters were born to Mr. and Mrs. Davis, Ruby, the eldest, preceded him in death September 26, 1914 at the age of 17 years.

After his marriage, he lived in Oklahoma for twelve years and then moved to Lake City, Kansas. Twenty five years ago they moved to Medicine Lodge and he secured a position with the Best Bros. Kenne's Cement Co. and worked for this company until the day before he was taken in his last sickness.

He was converted in a country school house near Cleo, Okla., in a Methodist revival forty five years ago. He united with the Methodist church and was an active and faithful member until his death. He loved his Lord and his church and many times when he was unable to go would make his way to the house of worship.

He was of a quiet retiring nature but always greeted his friends with a smile. His smile drove many a cloud away from the hearts of those who met and knew him during his active years.

He loved his home, his companion and daughters. They have a multitude of blessed memories to enrich their lives.

He will be greatly missed among his fellow workers at the Gyp Mill with whom he has worked these many years.

His congenial disposition won him the esteem of all who came to know him and he will be missed by his many friends.

He leaves to mourn his departure his devoted wife and beloved daughters, Mrs. Fred Lasswell of Idaho City, Idaho, and Mrs. Elmer Conner of Medicine Lodge, Kansas and six grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 13th, at the Methodist church at 2 p.m. with Rev. Miles, pastor of the M. E. Church in charge. Burial was made in the Highland cemetery.
