Sgt. Hoppes Dies Of Wounds

One more Barber county member of the armed forces has made the supreme sacrifice in World War II, according to word received by the Index just as it goes to press. He is Sgt. Alvin L. Hoppes of Sharon, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Hoppes.

Word of Sgt. Hoppes death was received in a telegram from the War department by his parents on Tuesday. The telegram said, "The secretary of war wishes to express his deep sympathy in the loss of your son, technician 4th grade, Alvin L. Hoppes. According to the report received by the war department, he died June 5 in Northern Burma as the result of wounds received in action."
