Debra Leanne (Mathews) Jones, 49, died September 22, 2006 at Franciscan Hospice House in Tacoma, Washington after a long battle with cancer.
Leanne was born August 19, 1957 in Hardtner, Kansas, one of a set of twins, to Les and Doris Mathews. Leanne graduated from Sharon High School in May 1975. She attended Kansas State University, and was working at Koch Industries, Wichita, Kansas, when she met Don Jones in August 1987. They were married June 4, 1988. They resided in Tripsrath, Germany while Don was stationed at Geilenkirchen Air Force Base. Their daughter, Lisha, was born on July 8, 1989. In April 1990, Don was transferred to Tinker Air Force Base and they lived in Edmond, Oklahoma. In July 2002, Leanne and family moved to Olympia, Washington.
Leanne was very creative with many knitting, crocheting, and sewing projects, while busy raising Lisha. She was an avid reader of books and a passionate fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Leanne, Don and Lisha enjoyed camping and spent many vacations in Colorado.
Survivors include husband Don Jones, daughter Lisha Jones; three brothers, Lynn Mathews, Berrima, Australia; Lorrie Mathews, Council Bluffs, Iowa; Lowell Mathews, Glenpool, Oklahoma; two sisters, Linda Mathews, Houston, Texas and Lynette Nesbitt, Mulvane, Kansas; 18 nieces and nephews, Ben, Chris, Phoebe, Edwina, Lucy, Beth, Laura, Jackie, Bryan, Jason, Emily, Tanner, Kyle, James, Kaitlyn, Christian, Shane, and Stacy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Les and Doris Mathews, Sharon, Kansas.
A memorial service was held Sunday, September 24, 2006 at Timberline Baptist Church, Lacey, Washington, with Pastor Ed Quillin presiding.
