Mary Isabelle Switzer Kepner

The New Leaf, Effingham, Atchison Co., KS, Vol. XII, Friday, June 9, 1899, pg. 1, col. 5

"Mrs. S. A. Kepner, who died on the 31st ultimo, was born in Virginia, September 21, 1857. She was married in Illinois to Mr. Kepner, July 13, 1882. In 1893 they moved to Kansas and bought the beautiful home just east of the city where they lived until the day of Mrs. Kepner's death.

But now the home is sad, for wife and mother is gone! Husband and children are left to mourn! Mrs. Kepner was a noble woman, an obliging neighbor, a dutiful and an affectionate wife, a kind and loving mother and a faithful and devout Christian. Her funeral was conducted by Elder Z. S. Hastings, of the Christian Church, preaching a discourse based upon the text: "The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death." 1 Cor. 15:@6. The concourse of people in attendance was large, for Mrs. Kepner had many friends. Mr. Kepner and his children have the sympathy of all in this their sad bereavement and great loss.

A. Friend."
