Galena Cemetery is the town's oldest cemetery and really looks like the older cemeteries that you see in movies. Many of the town's early pioneers and also many who died in mining accidents are buried here. It is a large cemetery and is only used occasionally since the early records were destroyed in a fire and the cemetery is getting filled up except for empty grave plots in existing blocks. The cemetery is right on the west edge of Galena and fronts on old Route 66. There is a large sign at the entrance.
