Little Stranger Cemetery
Leavenworth County, Kansas

Submitted by Bonnie Sivyer

The following information was compiled from two documents obtained from the Leavenworth County Museum. A 1979 printout of known names of persons buried there with their dates of birth and deaths, and a transcription of tombstones made by Paul and Gladys Carnahan on March 17, 1957.

While speaking with those who live near the cemetery I learned that there are many burials in the cemetery that are not listed. There is no known actual record of all the burials that took place there. I was also told that many African American's were buried in this cemetery and there are no markers for them.

Little Stranger Church is located on County Road 5.
Little Stranger Church was built in 1867 by a Christian Congregation that had moved from Farley, MO. They had come to settle on land purchased from the U. S. Government. The present road covers the ruts made by wagons of travellers on the Santa Fe Trail. Vacated in 1918, the church has become a community center for the people of the Boling area.     (Plaque Erected 1988)
