JACOB W. SMITH
Mr. Smith came to this county from Nebraska in 1878 taking the homestead he still owns. The next winter he went back to Nebraska to earn some money to improve his farm and while there a friend wrote him that a newspaper was soon to be started in Oberlin. He at once ordered the new paper and has taken it ever since. Mr. Smith has been prominent in politics and has served the county six years as commissioner and has done what he could to build up Decatur county. He lives in a large and commodious farm dwelling and is in condition to take times easy the rest of his life.
