John Neaderhiser, 80, Longford, died June 28, 1973 at Salina. He was born Aug. 11, 1892 in Ottawa County, and
and lived in the Longford and Manchester communities for many years.He is survived by two sons, Harold of Omaha, Neb.,
and Evan of Miltonvale; two brothers, Charles of Longford and Francis, of Rosemead; four sisters, Mrs. Patrick Riley,
Salina, Mrs. Rachel Werner, Wichita, Eva Neaderhiser, Tulsa and Mrs. Daniel Neal, East Sound, Wash.;four
grandchildren and 2 g-grandchildren. Services were held June 30th
Saturday at the Longford United Methodist Church, with burial in Keystone Cemetery.

Ora I. Neher, 89, of Abilene, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000; born Dec. 15, 1910, in Dickinson County, the
daughter of Clarence and Margaret (Leonberger) Lowry; survivors include a son, Kenneth Neher of Lawton, Okla.; two
daughters, Joanne Knox of Clay Center and Betty Hampton of
Abilene; twin brothers, Lyle and Lynne Lowry of Abilene;
eight grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren; burial in Livingston-Union.

Eva Mae Neiswender, 89, Rock Island, Ill., formerly of Topeka, who died Friday, April 26, 2002, at Rock Island; born Dec. 10, 1912, in Herington, to Floyd C. and Goldie Mowers McCardle; married Paul Chrastina in March 1937 in San Francisco. He died in July 1946. She married Laurence J. Neiswender in June 1962 in Topeka. He died in December 1982. A daughter, Susan Ann Kerman, died in 1981; survived by two daughters, Sandra Lee Chrastina, Topeka, and Linda Kay Pence, Rock Island, Ill.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; burial Silver Lake Cemetery. Rebecca A. Neumann, 79, Kansas City, Kan. died Monday, June 10, 2002; born March 30, 1923, in Herington, the daughter of Ralph S. and Julia Belle Smith Lower; married Norbert P. "Nibby" Neumann. He died Oct. 30, 1977; burial Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington.

Margaret Anna Neuschafer, 82, rural Enterprise, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at Chapman; born Dec. 6, 1918, in Odin in Barton County, to Joseph A. and Mary Lamatsch Demel; married Alfred Neuschafer on May 6, 1941, in Odin. They lived near Ellsworth before they moved to the Enterprise community in 1945. He died Jan. 29, 1984. A son, Donald Neuschafer, died Jan. 2, 1972.; survived by sons, Vernon Neuschafer, Arlington, Texas, and Marvin Neuschafer, Bartlesville, Okla.; two daughters, Janice Neuschafer, McPherson, and Mary Avery, Abilene; four brothers, Edward Demel, Hoisington, August Demel and Stephen Demel, both in Claflin, and Jerome Demel, Rose Hill; two sisters, Viola Axman, Olmitz, and Irene Mattas, Wilson; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren; burial in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery. The sad accident which occurred at
the home of Sheriff D. W. Naill
Wednesday morning fulfilled the worst
fears of the child's parents and resulted
fatally. The little one passed away
this morning at 5 o'clock after a period
of extreme suffering.
The facts in the case, as will be remembered by our readers, were that on
Tuesday night some poisoned meat was
placed on the floor to destroy mice.
The animals pulled one piece partly
into a hole and when the remainder was
gathered up in the morning this was
overlooked and the baby, finding it, ate it.
Though all was done that medical skill
could do death ensued this morning.
Mabel Grace was was little over a
year old, having reached her first birthday anniversary on the 19th of last September. She was a bright, winsome
child and the idol of the father's and
mother's heart. The blow falls with
crushing force upon the bereaved parents though they have the sincerest
sympathy of a wide circle of friends.
The funeral was held Saturday
morning at 10 o'clock at the

Walter, the only son of Register
Nichols, aged nearly three years, died
last evening. This little one had been
sadly afflicted for months, which he
bore with wonderful patience; he was
an unusually bright and winsome child,
and the parents have the sincere sympathy of a large circle of friends.
The funeral services will be held at

Judy G. Nielsen, 55, Herington, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, of injuries suffered in a traffic accident northeast of Herington; born April 23, 1945, at Parsons, the daughter of Benjamin L. and Doris F. Shields Oglesby; married Richard L. Nielsen Sr. on Dec. 28, 1962, in Reno, Nev. He survives along with two sons, Richard Nielsen Jr., Pretty Prairie, and Troy Nielsen, Herington; a daughter, Doris "Dee" Jaccob, Sedgwick; a sister, Linda Nieland, Lebanon, Ore.; and eight grandchildren; burial in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington. Mrs. Abraham Niesley died on the
25th of Nov., aged 23 yrs. 10 months
and 7 days. The funeral services were
held at the residence of A. M. Engle,
(parents of the deceased) Sunday morning at half past 10, after which
the remains were deposited in the Bert
graveyard. Heart disease was the
cause of her death. Mrs. Niesley was
a very kind and affectionate wife. She
connnected herself with the River
brethren church in her 13th year, and
was a devoted christian woman. She
leaves a very large number of relatives
and friends to mourn her loss. But
we hope our loss may be her eternal
gain.

Tuesday at noon passed away the life of Mrs. Armina L. Niles, wife of George N. Niles, at the family home, 102 South Second street.
Mrs. Niles his been suffering for three years with a cancer; she knew that death was coming, but she has looked forward to the future with a calm and fearless trust that has robbed death of its terror. On Sunday she was taken with spasms and it soon
became evident that she could not survive this last shock. All that tender hearts could suggest and loving hands perform was done to sooth her last hours and, at midday she fell
peacefully asleep.
The deceased was bom in Watertown, N. Y., Aug. 12th, 1839 and hence was a little over 49 years old. Besides her husband she leaves one son George A., to mourn the Ioss of a loving mother. She has lived for some years in Abilene where her son and husband had been in the livery business. She was a member of the W. R. C. and that organization has been very kind in lending assistance in this hour of need.
We, in common with the many friends of the deceased, lend our sympathy to the bereaved family. The funeral services will

Steven E. Noel, 19, and his brother, Rudolph A. Noel, 17, both of Abilene, were killed Saturday, Nov. 28, 1970 when their
vehicles collided on K-18 north of Abilene. They were the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Noel of Abilene. They are also survived
by brothers, Ray and David, of the home; a sister, Mrs. Kenneth Boyd of Abilene, and grandparents, Mrs. Bertha Carlson of
Abilene and Mrs. Esther Noel, Harrisburg, Pa. Steven is also survived by his wife, Judy Sutton Noel, and their son, Kendell,
of Abilene. The brothers' funeral will be Tuesday, Dec. 1, with burial in the Abilene Cemetery. (undated paper)

Bob Norris, 84, formerly of Junction City, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, in Salina; born Feb. 27, 1918, in Minneapolis, Kan., to William T. and Lelah E. Montague Norris; married Etta Root on July 15, 1939. She survives along with a son, Gary Norris, Salina; and two grandchildren; burail in Indian Hill Cemetery in Chapman. Mr. J. G. Northcraft, a prominent citizen and druggist of Abilene,
died of dropsy, yesterday morning.
He has been a sufferer from this dread
disease for a long time. He was a prominent member of the I. O. O. F.
The encampment of this city will go
in uniform tomorrow to the funeral. (Saline County Journal, July 20, 1882)

Evelyn G. Norton, 86, Winona, Minn., died Thursday, May 4, 2006; born April 9, 1920, on a farm west of Talmage, the daughter of Willie and Mabel (Stafford) Romberger; married O. Andrew Norton on May 3, 1942, at the Industry Evangelical Church, Industry; he preceded her in death on May 22, 2001; survivors include three children, David Norton of Kansas City, Mo., Mark Norton of Winona, Minn., and Ruth Anne Bevan of McKinney, Texas; one brother, J.W. Romberger of Abilene; two sisters, Edyth Mastin of Mesquite, Texas, and Helen Baker of Bellingham, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; preceded in death by infant twin brothers; burial in Abilene Cemetery.
