It dates its settlement from 1872, and is surrounded by a rich farming and stock raising section and has churches of the Baptist, Catholic, Christian, Methodist, Presbyterian, United Brethren and Wesleyan Methodist denominations, excellent schools, including the county high school, opera house, water works, are department, electric light plant, 2 banks, 2 telephone exchanges and 4 newspapers.
