The following is from Cemeteries in Sumner County, Kansas by Harvey and Ruth Swan (1983).

"Austin Cemetery, Sumner Township, R2W, T31, Sec 15, SE 1/4 of SE 1/4. Location from Anson: 1 1/2 S, 1 E.

The first burial was that of a person named Roberts who died on May 4, 1879.

Richard McMulin and his wife, Aurilla, gave a Warranty Deed dated Jan. 7, 1892, and filed Jan 8, 1892, (Book 64, Page 637) for the following described land to the Austin Cemetery Association: Commence at SE corner of SE 1/4 of Sec 15, T31, R2W, in Sumner Co., Kans. Then N 20 rods, then W 32 rods, then S 20 rods, then E 32 rods to place of beginning. This is a 4 acre tract.

A Corporation Deed (General Warranty) was given by H.C. Withrow, President of the Austin Cemetery Association, Attest: E.S. Lewis, Secretary of the Austin Cemetery Association, recorded in Book 151, Page 11, dated September 20, 1926, filed September 25, 1926 at 3 p.m. to Sumner Township. The following described land was deeded by this Corporation Deed:

"A tract of land commencing at the Southeast Corner of the Southeast quarter of Section 15, Township 31 South, Range 2 West of the 6th P.M., in Sumner County, Kansas, thence North 20 rods, thence West 32 rods, thence South 20 rods, thence East 32 rods to the place of beginning."

In August of 1974 a "Telephone Line Right of Way Easement" is given for East Half of Southeast Quarter of Section 15, Township 31 South, Range 2 West, and excepts 4 acres being used for a cemetery.

In the Fall of 1980, Austin Cemetery was vandalized to the extent of damage to 40 to 50 markers tipped over and some broken, or chipped.
