Brown County is located in the northeast corner of Kansas, on the Nebraska border. It's neighbors are Richardson County, Nebraska, to the north; Doniphan and Atchison Counties to the northeast and southeast; Jackson County to the southwest, and Nemeha County to the west. It was one of the original counties, established in 1855. Brown County's largest city and county seat is Hiawatha. It is also home to the Kickapoo Indian Reservation of Kansas' and is also home to the majority of the Sac and Fox Indian Reservations of Kansas and the Iowa Reservation of Kansas and Nebraska.
