Thornton Family of Bourbon and Harrison County Kentucky


The Thornton family arrived in Bourbon County in 1807 from Caroline County Virginia. Arriving with the family were ninety-nine persons which included many slaves.  Colonel Anthony Thornton, the patriarch of the family, he married Mary Rootes and have had twelve children.  All of which came to Kentucky with the exception of a son Phillip Thornton who remained in Virginia.
