Know all men by these
presents that we John Allen and Betsy Allen
for diverse causes and consideration unto us
moving, do hereby emancipate and set at
liberty George, Simon, Hester, Hannah, Jack
and their increase reserving their service
to us for and during the life of the
undersigned Betsy Allen - As we clearly word
it to be understood that at the death of the
said Betsy Allen, said negroes & their
increase are to be freed & not before & we
hereby acknowledge & desire it shall be
recorded irrevocable - given under our hand
& seal this the 3rd day of Sept 1823 - We do
hereby at the _____ of three years from this
day set at liberty said negro man Scipio?
where we have sold to B. Warfield for
Peterson?, provided he serve said Warfield
said _____ faithfully .. the day above . all
of which is irrevocable and to be placed
upon record in Harrison County.
