Bourbon County KY Pioneer Settler Certificate

 

 

1. Start with ;yourself and continue until you reach your pioneer ancestor.  Fill in as much information as you can regarding these people.  You should cite your sources in the section REFERENCES FOR LINEAGE.

2. Send the completed form along with a check payable to the Bourbon County, KY Genealogical Society, P.O. Box 951, Paris, KY 40362.  Fees for the certificate are $20 dollars for members and $25 for non-members.  Submissions will be verified by our Certification Committee and you will be informed of their findings. Please not that if you are rejected you will only receive half of your fees as a refund.  The other half will be retained as research costs.  Be aware that membership in other societies is not a guarantee of verification.

3. Please allow 6-8 weeks for research and mail time in order to receive your Pioneer Certificate.

REFERENCES FOR LINEAGE

 

Give below proof for each statement of Birth, marriage, death dates and places and connections between generation between yourself and your pioneer ancestor.  Published authorities should be cited by the title, author, date of publication, volume and page.  Send one certified, attested copy of each unpublished source such as a family Bible.  Proofs of line of descent comprise of wills, probate records, church, town and court records, Bible, census and pension records, tombstone and other such records as approved by the society.  Oral tradition is NOT acceptable as a source.
