Last Will and Testament Thomas Respess

In the name of God Amen. I, Thomas Respess of Bourbon County and state of Kentucky being sound in mind and memory and believing it is appointed for all men to die and knowing the uncertainty of life do resign by body to the grave and my soul to God who gave it in full anticipation of a glorious immortality and as for what worldly property it has been please God to give, it is [my] will and desire to dispose of in manner and form as following, to wit:
Item: I give bequeath unto my Augustine C. Respass for natural love and affection I have for him the land I now live on containing three hundred acres and for the consideration of two thousand dollars for which I hold his note payable in four years after my death.
Item: I give unto my said Augustine C. Respass a black man named Absalom he has now in possession.
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughters Susanah Respass now Susanah Saunders, Frances Respass now Frances Hickman, Ann Respass now Ann Lewis and Mary Respass now Mary Haggin the following colored people to wit: Lewis, Abraham, Nelson and Chaney, but it is my will my daughter Mary Respass now Mary Haggin take Chaney at her valuation to serve twenty one years after my death, Molly, Betty and Geny be free at my death but if Molly and Betty cannot support themselves then in that case it is my desire for my children to take them and do the best they can with them.
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Ann Respass now Ann Lewis four hundred dollars.
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Respess now Mary Haggin four hundred dollars.
Item: I give and bequeath to my grand daughter Harriett Hughes now Harriett Fisher four hundred dollars to be ? incurred to her for her benefit the above sums of money to be paid four years after my death by son Augustine C. Respass which is the amount of his note.
Item: most of my children that has had ____one bed must another with furniture and the others to be divided after Robert Rispiss gets two, between my son Robert and Ann Lewis, Frances Hickman and Mary Haggin, with furniture. To my daughter Susanah Respass now Susanah Sanders must have the value of one bed in money.
Item: I give to my son Robt Rispess one negro man named Andrew .
Lastly I nominate my son Augustine Respass my ex’or to this my last will and testament revoking all others heretofore by me made whatsoever. In testimony I have hereunto set my hand & seal this thirty-first day July one thousand eight hundred and twenty.
