Mr. James Mason , an old resident of this neighborhood , departed
this life on the 26th day of June, aged 77 years , 6 months , and
15 days old. He joined the Baptist church in 1861 and lived a
consistent, honorable and upright Christian life , and was always
willing to lend a helping hand to those in distress about him .
He died in full triumph of faith , and stated " he was going
home to meet his Savior." He was married to Miss Sarah Evans
about 58 years ago and the two have always lived happily
together. He leaves a wife and six children , many grandchildren
and a host of friends and relatives to mourn his death . He
leaves property valued at from five to eight thousand dollars and
made a will equally dividing it among his three boys and three
girls . He was buried on the 27th of June at the family graveyard
on Little Clear Creek . The bereaved family has our sincere
sympathy.
