Cubage Man Fatally Hurt
in Car Crash (died 22 Jan 1957)
Pineville__ Avery Wilder, 23, Cubage, was killed instantly
yesterday
afternoon, when the car in which he was riding skidded, hit
another
vehicle and plunged down an embankment on U.S. 119 near Tanyard
Hill.
State Trooper Robert Ross said the automobile driven by John
Hunley,
31, Cubage slid on the wet raod into the path of one driven by
Clarence Beach of Harlan.
Henley and Gwen Kelley, 17, Alva, a passenger in Beach's
automobile,
were both listed in satisfactory condition at the Pineville
Hospital
with bruises.
Beach and his wife were taken to Harlan Hospital. Mrs. Beach was
reported in serious condition and Beach in good condition. Both
suffered multiple fractures said the hospital.
Ross said both cars were demolished.
Wilder is survived by his wife, Reva, and three children, Gary
Allan,
Larry Dale and Axy Jean; and parents Mr. And Mrs. H.D. Wilder all
of
Cubage.
Other survivors are sisters; Mrs. Vola Quintana, Denver, Colo.,
and
Mrs. Opal Alexander, Lawrence, Kansas; brothers Roy, Cubage,
Lonnie,
Fremont Ohio, Arnold, Detroit, Mich; and Verlin, Pontiac, Mich.
