Salt River Genealogy
and History

Southern Boyle County and Northern Casey County, Kentucky

The Salt River rises on the north slope of Persimmon Knob, near Alum Springs, KY.  It flows generally northward towards Harrodsburg, then westerly to West Point, KY, where it empties into the Ohio River.  Along the way, various tributaries augment the flow, notably the Chaplin River, flowing through Parksville and Perryville, and the North Fork River, beginning in the knob region of northeastern Casey County.

Thus, "Salt River" was chosen as the unifying feature, joining southern Boyle and northern Casey Counties.  Many families, over time, have lived in both counties, so the Salt River is fitting as the title of this web.

I have purposely left out the Forkland community of Boyle County as they have already published and collected a great deal of historical and genealogical material.  As the main purpose of this web page is to gather unpublished material, or information which is not readily available, including Forkland would simply be a duplication of effort at this time

I DO plan to include Junction City and Shelby City as well as Mitchellsburg, as time and materials permit me to do so.  These communities, like the ones already included, have little or no printed or published materials, and so anything I can gather into one place will be more than what exists now.
