Boyle County

Genealogy and History

Including all of Boyle County, with special emphasis on Southern and Western Boyle and Northern Casey Counties, Kentucky, Where the Bluegrass meets the Knobs

The Salt River rises on the north slope of Persimmon Knob, between Wilsonville and Alum Springs, KY.  It flows generally northward towards Harrodsburg, then westerly to West Point, KY, where it empties into the Ohio River.  Along the way, various tributaries augment the flow, notably the Chaplin River, flowing through Parksville and Perryville, and the North Fork River, beginning in the knob region of northeastern Casey County.

However, as it is quite difficult to limit a web page such as this to one small geographic region, the web site has been expanded to include ALL OF BOYLE COUNTY, hence the name change.

Thus, "Salt River" was originally chosen as the unifying feature, joining southern Boyle and northern Casey Counties.  Many families, over time, have lived in both counties, so the Salt River is a vital component in this website.

I have purposely left out the Forkland community and the City of Perryville  as they have already published and collected a great deal of historical and genealogical material.
