John Melchior Trapp was born 2 Jan 1848 in Oberhochstadt,
Mittelfranken, Bayern Germany, the son of George and Barbara (Schlehlein) Trapp.
George was born 16 Nov 1811 in Steppach, Mittelfranken, Bayern Germany and brought his
family to the United States in 1855. When George came, he was ill but
wanted a better life for his sons and one was old enough for military service
and he wanted to keep him out of the military. Barbara died before 1860 in
Campbell County and George died by 1870.
