23. Alfred³ Gillham (Robinson B.², Robinson Robert¹) was born 1836 in Twelve Mile, Campbell Co Ky., and died 1881 in Cincinnati, Hamilton Co, Ohio. He married Margaret Thompson. She was born in Kentucky.

Alfred Gillham, father of Robt. P. Gillham, served in the 5th Ohio Cavalry during Civil War as a member of Kilpatrick's Brigade and was with Gen. Sherman on his march to the sea. While proceeding to the coast, the rebels one morning charged the brigade and scattered the entire company. While retreating on horseback, he was hailed by an orderly for help. He took the orderly on his horse and carried them both to a swamp, but was captured by the Confederates, taken prisoner, taken to Richmond and later exchanged.
