John McCollum Will
Original Will at Alexandria City Building in Alexandria, page 6, June 4, 1797, recorded June Court 1797
In the name of God Amen, I John McCollum of Camel County being weak of body but of perfect mind and memory do make and Publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following; that is to say first I commit my Soul to God who gave it and my body to the Earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors.
Second, as to the worldly Estate God has blessed me with I dispose of in the form of the following. Vis; first, I allow all my debts to be paid and the residue of my Estate to be divided in four equal parts, one part to my beloved Wife Ann McCollum and the other three parts between three children, John, Thomas and Ann Sauer, equally and I do appoint my Son John McCollum and my son-in-law Bryant Senior, Executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the fourth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety-seven. John McCollum (X his mark) (Seal)

Campbell June Court 1797
This last Will and Testament of John McCollum, deceased was presented in Court proved by the oaths of James McCollum, & Samuel Vanhook witnesses thereto and is ordered to be Recorded. And on the motion of John McCollum & Bryant Senior, the executors therein named who made oath thereto and together with James McCollum & Morgan Vanmeter their Securities entered into & Acknkowledged this bond in the penalty of six hundred pounds. As the Law directs certificate is grants them for obtaining a probat thereof in due form.
