He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Robert Eads. h/o  Mossie Johnson Eads; one son, Kenneth R. Eads of Bypro; one daughter, Glenda Gall Bailey of Bypro; one brother, Jack Eads of Corpus Christi, Texas; two sisters, Anna Mae Voris of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Hazel Hogg of Greenville, Mississippi. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Tim Eads, Shawn Hamilton, and Layne Bailey, all of Bypro, Mark Curry of North Carolina, and Sabrina Lazar of Lexington; Burial will be made in the Jacks Creek Cemetery at Bevinsville 

EAGLE, Jessie Lee Johnson   Age, 64, of Troy, Michigan, formerly of Kentucky, died Monday, November 19, 2001, following an extended illness. Born on March 18, 1937, at Wheelwright, Ky., she was raised by Bessie Johnson Adams of Troy, Michigan. She was a homemaker and member of the Clawson-Troy Elk Club. She is survived by her husband, Roland Stanley Eagle. Other survivors include one son, Brian (Elaine) Reece of Grand Blanc, Michigan; one daughter, Cindy Lee (Michael) Bower of Catlett, Va.; one sister, Edna (Junior) Turner of Geneva, Oh.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 24, 2001, at 11 a.m., at the Wheelwright Freewill Baptist Church, with Rev. Louis Ferrari officiating. Burial will be in the Buckingham Cemetery, Bevinsville, Ky., under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, Ky. EASTEP, Avanel  Age, 64, of Beaver, Ohio, formerly of Floyd County, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at her residence. Born on June 11, 1936, in Pikeville, she was the daughter of the late Otto Compton and Hattie Bentley Compton. She was a member of the Givens Freewill Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Silvan Eastep. Other survivors include two step-sons, Dranon Eastep and Ronnie Darrell Eastep, both of Columbus, Ohio; five daughters, Deloris Peck of Ashland, Margie Gail Bryant of Stanville, Tammy Church of Charlotte, North Carolina, Debbie Kiser of Berea, Nina Jewell Kiser of Martin; three step-daughters, Rhonda Lynn Furrow, Agnes Eastep and Sondra Kay Eastep, all of Columbus, Ohio; five brothers, Otto Compton Jr. of Grethel, Freddie Cline Compton and Arie Daniel Compton, both of Betsy Layne, Coamas Russell Compton and Leonard Mathew Compton, both of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Ramona Hitchens of Pennsylvania, and Alfreda Kirk of Pennsylvania, five grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 23, at 2 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, at Martin, with ministers of the Old Regular Baptist Church officiating. EASTRIDGE, Dr. Robert Dean, M.D.   Age 78, of Lebanon, died June 13, 1991 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon. Born November 12, 1912, in Oakdale, Tennessee, he was a physician in Lebanon since 1962, an Army Veteran of World War II, a captain serving in the Army Air Corps Medical Unit-Occupation Forces Pacific Threater in 1945, and a member of the Lebanon Central Baptist Church. He also practiced medicine at Lackey in Floyd County for many years. He graduated from Carson-Newman College, University of Tennessee College of Medicine in 1944, Vanderbilt School of Medicine Surgical Residency Program in 1960, and Fellow American College of Surgeons in 1966. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Z. and Lillie Taylor Eastridge. Survivors include his wife, Verley Sue Layne Eastridge; two sons, Michael Dean Eastridge of Louisville and Frederick Robert Eastridge of Lexington; one daughter, Marilyn Denise Followell of Lebanon; one brother, Dr. Charles E. Eastridge of Memphis, Tennessee; and four grand-children. Funeral services were conducted June 17, at 11 a.m., at Bosley Funeral Home in Lebanon, with Rev. Ferrell Isenburg officiating, assisted by Rev. Tom Knight. Burial was made in Lebanon National Cemetery under the direction of Bosley Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers were Michael, Frederick and Dr. Charles Eastridge, Dr. James Angel, John Luckett and Ricky Followell. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. BJ. Eden, Lucille Daniels   Age 88, of Martin, wife of Willie Ray Eden, passed away, Sunday, December 12, 2004, at the Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg. She was born April 29, 1916, in Johnson County, the daughter of the late Harry Daniels and Caroline Music Daniels. She was a homemaker, and a member of the White Dove Pentecostal Church, Prestonsburg. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include one son, William Ray Eden of St. Augustine, Florida; three daughters: Sylvia Rigor of Grayson, Phyllis Hunter of Martin, and Patty Wiggins of St. Augustine, Florida; one sister, Sylvia Dermatz of Leesburg, Florida; 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, and two great-great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Joan McCallister. Funeral services for Lucille Daniels Eden will be conducted Wednesday, December 15, at 1 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, in Martin, with Clergyman Lowell Robinson officiating. EDMONDS, Jerry Neal  Age, 53, of Harold, died Tuesday, December 19, 2000, at the VA Medical Center at Wayne, West Virginia. He was born May 21, 1947, the son of the late Willard and Draxie Ramey Edmonds. He was a retired federal mine inspector and artist. He was an Air Force Vietnam veteran. He is survived by two sons, Jonathan Edmonds and Lucas Edmonds, both of Richmond; one daughter, Leslie Reach of Lexington; one brother, Bud Edmonds of Harold; three sisters, Patty Jent of Harold, Jenetta Gray of Pikeville and Glennis Davis of Inez; and two grandchildren. Born in Pike County, January 22, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Laura Blankenship Weddington and Donald Weddington. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Her husband, Garnie Edmonds, preceded her in death. EDMONDS, Willard D. (Bud)  Born January 14, 1949, and died November 22, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Jewell Crum Edmonds. EDWARDS. Bruce  Age, 72, of Sullivan, Ohio, died Wednesday, August 9, 2000, at home. Born on July 29, 1928, in Garrett, he was the son of Ephriam and Julie Bell Owsley Edwards. He lived in Wellington before moving to Sullivan 17 years ago. He had been a truck driver and manager of the Sullivan Shell Station and was currently employed by the Sullivan Township maintaining the parks and cemeteries. Survivors include four daughters, Gail Pay and Kim Clantz, of Sullivan, Gay Reed of Plain City, Jessica Edwards at home; one son, Dale Edwards of Ashland; two sisters, Ella Rose Lafferty, of Franklin, Dorlis VanHoose, of Mt. Vernon; two brothers, Lloyd Edwards of Prestonsburg, Cecil Edwards of Middletown; nine grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, August 12, at Parker & Son Funeral Home, Spencer, with pastor Billie Joe Wheeler officiating. Born March 10, 1938 in Floyd County, he was the son of the late Hales Edwards and Mandy Jane Smith Edwards. Survivors include his wife, Claudette Caudill Edwards; one son, Jeff Edwards of Elkhart, Indiana; one daughter, Patricia Younce of Elkhart, Indiana; three brothers, Samuel Edwards and Daniel Edwards, both of Albion, Michigan, and Lawrence Edwards of McAndrews; two sisters, Gertrude Gayheart of Maxion, Ohio, and Minnie Edwards of Albion, Michigan; and four grandchildren. . She was born October 1, 1918, in Letcher County, the daughter of William Wells and Alva Weaver Wells. She was a member of the Lackey Freewill Baptist Church, for more than 50 years. Survivors include one son, Robert Chalfant of Wabash, Indiana; three daughters, Dorlane Runyon of Hager Hill, Arvella Martin of Garrett, and Winona Blanton of Wabash, Indiana; one sister, Daisy Lambert of Stonega, Virginia; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Russell Riley Chalfant; her second husband, Ephriam Edwards; one son, Curtis Chalfant; one brother, Garfield Wells; three sisters, Belle Bowers, Mary Lewis, and Stady Howard. He was preceded in death by his wife, Oma Perry Elkins. Survivors include a son, Julius Lynn Elkins of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two brothers: Douglas Elkins and Vernon Elkins; three grandchildren, and four great-grandchldren: Kimberly Elkins Andresen, Jeffrey Elkins, Michael Elkins, Cammie Jo, Evan, Winter, and Jeffrey Michael. He is survived by his wife, Nora Rorrer Elkins. Other survivors include one son, Ricky Elkins of Mount Vernon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Elkins. Born September 26, 1933, at Dony, she was the daughter of the late Beverly and Maudie Caudill Osborne. She was a homemaker and member of the Old Time Baptist Church at Printer. She is survived by her husband, Pink Clines Elliott. Survivors include five daughters, Eula Tackett of McDowell, Sharon Kaye Johnson and Dottie Johnson, both of Hi Hat, Joyce Ann Foley of Martin, and Judy Hamilton of Printer; a son, Danny Ray Gayheart; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three daughters, Geraldine, Maxine, and Venda Gay; five brothers, Palmer Osborne, Paul Osborne, Stallard Osborne, Doug Osborne and Doley Osborne and three sisters, Jessery Collins, Thelma Smith, and Betty Lou Osborne. ELLIOTT, Jack  Age, 63, of Willard, Ohio, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2005, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, in Toledo, Ohio. He was born March 11, 1942, the son of the late John and Bessie Elliott. Surviving to cherish his memory are his brothers: Monford, Ronnie, Basil, and John D. Elliott; and sisters: Barbara Carlini, Clara Flannery, Donna Hardin, Glenna Hicks, Phyllis Dale, and Victoria Kendrick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Frances and Homer. Jack was cremated, therefore he requested that there be no funeral service, and no visitation. He was owner and operator of Triangle Market, in Martin, a member of the First Baptist Church, in Allen, a U.S. Navy World War II veteran, a member of Zebulon Lodge No. 273, F&AM, in Prestonsburg, the American Legion, AmVets, and the VFW. Survivors include three sons: Wiley Herman Elliott and Robert O'Neal Elliott, both of Martin, Olin Andrew Elliott II, of Prestonsburg; one daughter, Lona Berniece "Loniece" Brewer of Lexington; one brother, Gus Godffrey Elliott of Dayton, Ohio; three half-brothers: Patrick Hayes of Tipp City, Ohio, and Vernon Harry Elliott and John Francis Elliott , both of Allen; one half-sister, Barbara Petersen of Ohio; and nine grandchildren. Born on November 27, 1912, in Prestonsburg, he was the son of the late William Elliott and Sara Jane Rose Elliot. He was a grain farmer and was a resident of Kosciusko County since 1956; a member of the Frances Slocum Trail Riders Club in Peru, Indiana, and a Horse Trader. His wife, Mary B. Stephens Elliott, preceded him in death. Survivors include two daughters, Anna Blair of Warsaw, Indiana, Linda Justice of Milford, Indiana; five sons, John Elliott and Henry Elliott, both of Warsaw, Indiana, James Elliott of Etna Green, Indiana, Tommy Elliott of Tennessee, Bill Elliott of Claypool, Indiana; one sister, Rosie Robinson of West Prestonsburg, 31 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren. ELLIOTT, Sylvia June Age, 73, of Harold, died Friday, December 24, 1999, at McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital, following an extended illness. Born on June 15, 1926, in Jenkins, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Flora Swindae Rife. She was a retired nurse at Pikeville Methodist Hospital and a
member of the Church of Christ at Weeksbury. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie (Bill) Elliott. Survivors include one son, Fred Rife of Harold; one brother, George Russell Rife of Akron, Ohio; and one sister, Elizabeth Wilson of Melvin. Burial was in the Rife Family Cemetery, Weeksbury

ELLIOTT, Willie James Age 86, of Harold, died Wednesday, March 31, 1999, at McDowell ARH, following an extended illness. Born on February 10, 1913. in Harold, he was the son of the late B.E and Virgie Hall Elliott. He was retired from the C&O Railroad Marine Department World War II veteran, and DAV member at Betsy Layne. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Rife Elliott. ELLIS, Pearl LeMaster   Age, 85, of Langley, died Friday, August 16, 2002, at Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg. Born November 20,1916, in Whitehouse, she was the daughter of the late John LeMaster and Maxie Parsons LeMaster. She was a retired cook, having worked 28 years at Maytown Elementary School as an employee of the Floyd County school system, and was a member of the Zebulon Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Ellis. Survivors include three sons, Bucky D. Ellis, of Wellington, Charles H. Ellis, of Syracuse, Indiana, and Jeff Ellis, of Van Lear; four daughters, Joy Gibson, Sandy Moore and Carolyn Moore, all of Langley, and Patricia Leonard, of Van Lear; one brother, Frank LeMaster, of Baltimore, Maryland; three sisters, Agnes Rittinger, of Baltimore, Maryland, Jo Anne Edlow, of Frankfort, and Jesse David, of Paintsville; 27 grandchildren and 39 great- grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Ray Ellis, and one daughter, Martha Slone. He was the son of the late Willie and Corille Hampton Elswick. He was a retired machinist mechanic and a former truck driver. He was survived by one son, Bradley Elswick of Detroit, Michigan.; one daughter, Loriene Akers of Westmoreland, Tennessee; two brothers, Herbert Elswick and Hubert Elswick, both of Virgie; seven great grandchildren, eight grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Hessie Virginia Goodin, two brothers, William Elswick Jr. and Travis Elswick; one sister, Belvie Elswick; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. ENDICOTT, Elmo (Boe) Sr.   Age 58, of 184 E. 4th Street, Salem, Ohio, died at 5:35 p.m., Saturday, October 14, 2006, at his home. He was born March 6, 1948, in Endicott, the son of the late Walker and Mabel (Lafferty) Endicott. He was employed at Quaker Manufacturing as a janitor for 23 years. Previously, he worked as a crane operator and supervisor at the Pittsburgh Foundry in Salem. He was a member of the Grace Pentecostal Church in Salem and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Many people adopted Elmo as their father or grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Linda Star (Willard) Endicott, whom he married January 26, 1967; two sons: Elmo (Boe) Endicott Jr. and his wife, Tammy, of Salem and Joseph F. Endicott and his wife, Lisa, of Salem; a daughter, Trisha Lynn Endicott and her companion, Steven Johnson, of Lisbon; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, expecting; four sisters: Laura McCoy, of Salem, Selvia French, of Columbiana, Clara Ackerest, of Martin, and Oieda Woods, of Prestonsburg; and three brothers: Dorris (Geraldine) Endicott, of Salem, Leo (Gwen) Endicott, of Prestonsburg, and Robert (Wanda) Endicott, of Paintsville. ESTEPP, Betty Lou  Age, 78, of Albion, Michigan, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2005, at Battle Creek Health System. She was born June 19, 1927, in Robinson Creek, the daughter of the late Lack and Janie Hamilton. In October 1946, she married Joe Stephens. He preceded her in death in March 1991. She married George Estepp Jr., on March 14, 1992; he preceded her in death March 19, 1999. Betty was a nurse's aide at Albion Manor, Roberts Rest Home in Parma, and also worked at Corning Glass. She was a member of the Maytown Baptist Church in Langley. She enjoyed gardening flowers, reading her Bible, Saturday night dinners with family, and playing Rook. She was extremely close to her extended family. Survivors include: one daughter, Pat Quiel of Indiana; one step-son Joe Snyder of Langley; two sisters: Molly (Bill) Thompson of Springport, and Shirley (Carlos) Whitehead of Albion; four brothers: Wade (Kathy) Hamilton of Boise, Idaho, Fred (Mary) Hamilton of Concord, Ben (Connie) Hamilton of Boise, Idaho, and Alvin (Denise) Hamilton of Jackson; a special granddaughter, Amanda Snyder of Florida; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. EVANS, Carlos Cea  Age, 77, of Thelma, died Tuesday, February 20, 2001, at the Highlands Regional Medical Center. Born on January 7, 1924, in Floyd County, she was the daughter of the late Carlos Amburgy and Bertle Preston Amburgy. She is survived by her husband, Elzie Franklin Evans. Other survivors include three sons, David L. Evans of Van Lear, James Franklin Evans of Thelma and Johnny Evans of Lick Fork; two daughters, Deloris Patrick of Prestonsburg, Phyllis Jean Price of Nippa; two brothers, Fletcher Amburgy of Lehigh Acres, Florida, Elmer Amburgy of Dayton, Ohio; one sister, Helen Powell of Thelma, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services was conducted Thursday, February 22, at the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel, with Roger Hill officiating. Burial was in Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville. (FCT'S)

EVANS, Carrie H.  Age 89, of Prestonsburg, formerly of Elliott County, died Monday, February 23, 1998, at Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg. Born September 10, 1908 at Mazie in Lawrence County, d/o  Rev. W.A. Hay and Sallie Fannin Hay. She was a member of the Mazie Baptist Church. w/o Roscoe E. Evans. Survivors include two sons, Byron Evans of Ashland and Adrian Evans of Sandy Hook; one daughter, Carole Rice of Prestonsburg, Burial was in the Elliott County Memory Gardens.

EVANS, Earl  Age, 70, died Thursday, November 23, 2000, at his home in Newman Lake, Washington. Born on April 13, 1930, in Grethel, he was the son of the late Charlie and Arminda Evans. He worked as a coal miner into his 20s, then went west to Southern Idaho and became a bricklayer. Later he became a construction engineer and supervised numerous projects around the Inland Northwest. Last October he was honored by the bricklayers union with a 40-year pin. In 1976 he retired to Newman Lake, Washington. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Evans. Other survivors include two sons, Gary Evans of Indianapolis, Indiana, Earl D. Evans of Warsaw, Indiana; two daughters, Kimberly Hoff and Debbie Evans, both of Newman Lake, Washington; three sisters, Verlie Hall of Warsaw, Indiana, Ethel Williams, Hazel Hamilton, and two brothers, Kennis Evans, and Butler Evans, all of Grethel; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. EVANS, John David Sr.   Age, 87, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, departed this life on December 7, 2006. Johnny, as he was known by his friends, was born in Akron, Ohio, on October, 20, 1919, and moved to Auxier, where he was reared by his parents, Oscar Bob Evans, and Esther Keaton Evans. He was married for 57 years to his devoted wife, Patsy Evans. He was the father of his daughter Karen (Ron) Stanfield of Lexington, and his son David (Rella) Evans of Richmond. Johnny lived his life as a servant of the Lord, and made a Christian impact on the lives of all whom he touched. He was a Deacon Emeritus of Irene Cole Memorial (First) Baptist Church of Prestonsburg, where he served in many capacities, including missions and teaching Sunday school, and was a past master of Zebulon Masonic Lodge in Prestonsburg. He loved his church and he loved the Masonic order. He was a member of Porter Memorial Baptist Church in Lexington. He was a veteran of World War II, and proudly served his country in the Pacific. Johnny’s life was a testimony of service to his fellow man. He helped every person who needed him at any time, and never met a person he didn’t like. He lived a life of stability in an unstable world. He lived his life to serve God, and to serve others. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Esther, his brothers, Walter and James, and his much loved grandson, Zachary Stanfield. Survivors include his wife and children, two granddaughters: Bethany Evans and Emily Evans of Richmond, two sisters: Margie Gunnell of Prestonsburg, and Virginia (Norman) Foss of Orlando, Florida, and several extended family members and friends. Funeral services were conducted Monday, December 11, at W.R. Milward Funeral Home, on Southland Drive, Lexington. Burial followed at Camp Nelson National Cemetery with military rites. Visitation was at the funeral home. EVANS, Mary Elizabeth Ward  Age 79, of Prestonsburg, d Thursday, July 8, 1999, at the HRMC in Prestonsburg. She was born February 2, 1920, at Inez, d/o  George Washington and Wilkie White Ward. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Prestonsburg. Survivors include one daughter, Melissa Ashley Evans White of Raleigh, North Carolina; one brother, Arthur Ward of Raleigh, North Carolina and a sister, Kathryn Kohler of Richmond, Virginia.

EVANS, Mary Ruth  Age 84, of Yellville, Arkansas, passed away Friday, May 7, 2004, at Yellville. Born June 1, 1919, at Mossy Bottom, she was the daughter of Earl and Gertie Fife. She married Luther Evans on July 6, 1935, at Betsy Layne, at Pike-Floyd Hollow. Mrs. Evans is survived by four sons, David Luther Evans, of Berryville, Arkansas, Eddie Arnold Evans, of Yellville, Arkansas, Michael Ray Evans, of Gainesville, Missouri, and Timothy Evans, of Calico Rock, Arkansas; one daughter, Vivian Davis, of Shell Knob, Missouri; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and, three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister. A memorial service and interment in the Martin Cemetery, will be announced at a later date by Hall Funeral Home. EVANS, Robert Carl  Age, 86, of McKnight Terrace, Middletown, Ohio, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at the Middletown Hospital. Born December 8, 1915, in Swissville, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Carl Evans and Ona Glenn Evans. He was a sales representative for Brenneman’s, a member of the Methodist Church, the American Legion, and a W.W. II U.S. Army veteran, serving in Newfoundland. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Spradlin Evans on May 28, 1996. Survivors include one daughter, Donna E. Short of West Chester, Ohio; one son, Robert Clark Evans of Hanover, Indiana; one sister, Laurie Hodson of Clear Brook, Virginia; two brothers, Richard Evans of Onley, Virginia, and David Donald Evans of Hampton, Virginia; three grandchildren, Scott Evans, Michael Evans, and Eric Christopher Evans. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 31, at 11 a.m., at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, Prestonsburg, with Rev. George Love officiating.
