Alice Waddles "Descendants of James & Florence [Graham] Patton
of Floyd County,
Kentucky" Now in its eighth edition, this book traces the Pattons descended from Henry Patton (born ca. 1720 in Ireland), primarily the James Patton line but also the line of Thomas Patton Sr., a brother of James. James was born about 1752 in Augusta Co Va., namesake of his kinsman, the famed Augusta colonist Col. James Patton. The younger James lived on Back Cr in what would later become Montgomery Co VA before moving to Floyd Co in 1796. He was Floyd's first County Clerk and later Sheriff of the County. James and Florence are ancestral to many thousands of people, and biographies of 1500 Pattons alone are given in the book. Descendants in collateral lines are traced only for one generation. The book also traces the probable ancestry of Henry Patton back to Ireland and then Scotland. The book is illustrated, referenced, fully indexed, ands contains about 150 pages.
