Charles E. Yates

Charles E. Yates was born on the 7th of January 1916 in Hickman, Fulton Co., Kentucky, the son of Walter Yates and Mary McGeeHee. He was married to Miss Ruth Barnes in Union City, Tennessee on January the 1st, 1955. He died on 16 July 1991.
At the time of his induction into the U. A. Army he was employed at the Mengel Box Factory in Hickman. He joined the service on 14 November 1942 at Evansville, Indiana and was trained as a gunner. He served in Luzon and New Guinea in Battery 'A' of the 163rd Coastal Artillery Battalion and raised through the ranks from private to sergeant.
