Samuel Leon Bransford

Samuel Leon Bransford was born on the 8th day of August 1910 in Cayce, Fulton Co., Kentucky; the son of Richard Samuel Bransford and Emma Irene Oliver. He married Thora Gregory on 21 November 1945 and three children were born to this union. Gregory Leon Bransford, born in 1947; James Thomas Bransford, born in 1948 and Gideon Jeffrey Bransford, born in 1950. Samuel died on the 6th of June 1996.
He was an A & P Supermarket manager in Gladewater, Texas at the time of his enlistment into the U. S. Army on the 29th of January 1942. He was trained as a surgical technician at Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania, ultimately achieving the rank of Tech. Sergeant. He was awarded Good Conduct Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with 2 bronze stars. He served in Israel, Egypt and India and assisted surgeons during surgery. He was seperated from the Army at Camp Atterbury, Indiana.
