Helen Ackley 

  82, of Florence, died Wednesday at Woodspoint Nursing Home, Florence. She was a retired clerk with Selective Service and a member of Florence United Methodist. She was a past worthy matron of Order of the Eastern Star Harlan County Chapter, a past chairwoman of the Democratic Women's Club in Harlan County and a member of the Harlan County Homemakers. Her husband, Richard Julian Ackley, died in 2000. 

Survivors include sons, Carlyle Ackley of Florence and David Ackley of Middletown, Ohio; a daughter, Linda Ackley of Latonia; a sister, Geneva Martin of Jacksonville, Fla.; and three grandchildren. 

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Olivet Methodist Church, Rectorville. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Burial will be in Olivet Church Cemetery.
